A Solihull town centre business is celebrating almost 20 years of continued growth with a move to bigger offices on the High Street.

Kate+Co Intelligent Recruitment was founded in 1997 and has been co-owned by Sarah Grace and business partner Mike Hughes for the past 10 years. The business has recently moved from its historical home at 130 High Street to a much larger office just over the road above RBS at 141 High Street.

When the new management team took over the company in 2006 it employed just one parmanent member of staff but has now grown to 24 employee specialising in different areas of recruitment, with space for further growth over the next two years.

Sarah explained how the town centre business is now 'going from strength to strength'. "While the old, historically listed offices, were quirky and charming and loved by all the staff, the move was vital, as there was just not enough space for the growing team, and the ever increasing number of job-hunters seeking roles in a variety of sectors," said Sarah.

"I'm delighted we moved to the second floor in the building above RBS bank. It was very important to us we stayed in the High Street. We considered a move to offices in other locations but decided that we would never want to move out of Solihull as we felt that would be giving up our unique character and stability."

Kate+Co is split into four divisions: Business support, sales and marketing, HR and finance and all areas are seeing an increase in vacancy demand.

"Rather than just being a generalist recruiter we decided that the future was in developing specific functional skills for our clients and have now opened up the specialist divisions staffed with experts in support roles, HR, finance and sales & marketing.

"Our latest new division is sales and marketing, which is now nearly one year old and growing fast increasing in placement numbers month on month."

Evolving thecnologies and in particular mobile browsing impacts they way job-hunters and recruiters seek new roles and these are areas in which Kate+Co are keen to remain relevent. "These days we're having to be a lot more tech savvy," added Sarah.

"We now have free online testing facilities on our website where candidates can brush up on their computer skills from the comfort of their own homes, testing themselves on packages such as Microsoft Office and Sage.

"Often the test results are vital in helping to coach potnetial candidates and steer them towards suitable job roles, our clients often ask us to create bespoke tests that mirror a typical day at work and this gives client insight into candidates' core skills. The job market is constantly changing and people have to be well-equipped in terms of their research and preperation," she added.
