Solihull College and University Centre, which recently announced plans for a ‘strategic merger’ with Stratford-upon-Avon College, has been confirmed as one of the sponsors for this year’s Solihull BID Excellence Awards.
Nominations are now being invited for the Solihull BID Excellence Awards 2017, which celebrate the outstanding businesses and enthusiastic employees that make the town centre a great place to work.
The Awards will take place on November 23 at the St Johns Hotel and feature seven categories: Best Apprentice / Trainee, Best Hospitality & Leisure, Best Customer Service, Outstanding Team of 2017, Best Independent, Outstanding Innovation & Enterprise, Best Fundraising or Community Project.
Nominations can be made by visiting www.solihullbid.co.uk until Monday 25th September.
Solihull College & University Centre joins high-profile businesses BNP Paribas Personal Finance, IM Properties, Phoebus Software, Touchwood and the Solihull Observer, as a sponsor for the red-carpet event.
Principal John Callaghan said he is delighted the College is sponsoring the Solihull BID Excellence Awards once again.
“With the College’s strong ties to the community and local employers, sponsoring the awards allows us to further develop these relationships whilst celebrating the fantastic work done by businesses in the region,” said Mr Callaghan.
“Our apprenticeship, HE and professional course offer continue to be key sources of employer training and upskilling in the region and we intend to further grow in these areas working alongside Solihull BID.”
Solihull College was recently selected as the merger partner for Stratford-upon-Avon College in what is being described as a key strategic move. The merged college will have greater resilience and local influence, according to a spokesperson.
Both colleges will keep their identity but work together to develop more higher education, international and full cost courses and provide more opportunities and security for staff and students.
“It has been a fantastic few weeks in which we have been announced as the only College in the West Midlands to achieve the TEF Gold rating for our university level provision and chosen as the merger partner for Stratford-upon-Avon College,” added Mr Callaghan.
“With our state-of-the-art campuses already in Solihull and Smith’s Wood, we offer the people of Solihull and the wider area the opportunity to progress in their career or learn something new. We see our relationship with Solihull BID as being vital in our continued growth in the coming years.”
