The team at Touchwood is celebrating after being awarded a prestigious Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice.
The Green Apple Awards are presented following an international search by The Green Organisation to find the greenest companies, councils and communities. Touchwood competed against more than 500 other nominations before being awarded the accolade for Environmental Best Practice.
The centre was presented with the award in recognition of its Environmental Treasure Hunt, which sees all members of the team, along with retailer representatives, tasked with exploring the centre to find new areas in which sustainability could be further improved.
Andy Cole, General Manager at Touchwood, comments: "Here at Touchwood we place sustainability at the forefront of everything we do. The whole team is passionately committed to finding new ways to further reduce the carbon footprint of the centre, which is why we are thrilled to receive a Green Apple in recognition of everyone's hard work.
"Our environmental Treasure Hunt proved a great success in helping to identify additional ways in which we can further improve our sustainability and some of these have already been implemented. We look forward to going on the next hunt to see what other energy savings we can find."
Following its award, Touchwood is now being considered to represent the UK in the Green World Awards, and the European Business Awards for the Environment.
The Green Apple awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
