Thursday 22nd November - Saturday 24th November
Join us between Thursday and Saturday this week to raise money to help the 83,000 homeless young people in the UK this Winter.
One Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago the husband of one of our customers fell asleep in our armchair. It transpired that he had spent the previous night outside The Jamhouse in Birmingham as part of a charity sleepout, Byte Night, to raise funds for Action for Children.
Two things struck us. Firstly, how awful he felt after just one night with just a piece of cardboard and his own good quality sleeping bag between him and the pavement, with people continually falling over him and the constant noise of the city centre - he could go home afterwards, have a hot shower and a hot breakfast and not have to do it ever again. Secondly the shocking figure that 83,000 young people are homeless in the UK, many victims of physical or sexual abuse. They may not all be on the streets, some may be sofa surfing but they are without doubt very vulnerable, disadvantaged young people.
If, like us you feel you would like to help, please come along to Bridge this week between Thursday and Saturday and join us for some fizz, coffee and cake. We suggest a charitable contribution of £5. Each day we will have a raffle to win a £100 Bridge Gift Voucher donated by our suppliers.
Thank you for your support, in a small and pleasurable way we hope we can raise some money for others before we get too hung up on our own Christmas presents.
