Friday, September 27th - Sunday, September 29th
If music be the food of love then embrace some jerk chicken, a shot of rum and fall head over heels with what’s on offer this year at the Solihull Food & Drink Festival, featuring the best of worldwide cuisine. You will be spoilt for choice with over 100 food and drink traders in Mell Square, Mill Lane, Solihull High Street and inside Touchwood Shopping Centre.
Not only are we bringing back the much-loved demo kitchen, taster tent, diverse delicious variety of food and drink, dining discount booklet, family entertainment, and the live music stage… this year we are also adding a rum and reggae zone and a free outdoor cinema!
The demo kitchen arena is back with a passion too, you’ll be able to enjoy a variety of different culinary masterclasses for FREE! On Saturday we will see Birmingham’s Michelin star chef, Glynn Purnell take the reins, divulging his finest tips in his unique Brummie style. He will also be joined by a line-up of great chefs including fellow Michelin star chef Rob Palmer of Peel’s Restaurant at Hampton Manor Hotel, The Butcher's Social from Henley in Arden and many others.
On Sunday we will be focusing on baking skills for children, with demonstrations from Great British Bake Off’s Jon Jenkins, remembered for his Hawaiian shirts and unique baking creations. Jon will also be joined by the cake whisperer herself, Great British Bake Off’s Val Stones, who will be demonstrating how to make family baking so much fun. CBeebies’ very own Katy Ashworth will also be in on stage and she’ll be getting all the youngsters on their feet for a dance and sing-along!
Our live music lounge will be returning to the High Street near the Masons Arms, which will also house our new featured rum and reggae zone. A variety of live music will help to boogie away the calories: add to your food festival agenda an extended stay with Friday evening music until ten, a spiced-up rum evening with reggae vibes on Saturday until 10pm, and then music to chill out to on Sunday lunch time.
Look out also for free tasters from Solihull’s very own restaurants in the taster tent. You’ll be planning your return visit already with all the vouchers in the sought-after voucher booklet providing mouth-watering offers. We will also be joined by some great entertainment from Solihull’s favourite Mr Bubble, and new additions Juggling Jim and Froojamaflip – an amazing animated fruit and vegetable patch – and his gardener friend Fred.
