VACANCY: Business Host (Maternity Cover) at Solihull BID


Solihull BID are looking to recruit a Maternity Cover Business Host until 30th November 2020 who will report to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Management Team and responsible for effectively engaging with BID businesses.

Solihull BID are looking to recruit a Maternity Cover Business Host until 30th November 2020 who will report to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Management Team and responsible for effectively engaging with BID businesses. You will be a people person who can develop relationships within the business industry and deliver excellent standards of service.

The role

To be one of the recognised ambassadors for businesses in the Solihull Town Centre. Working closely with the BID team and key partners to deliver business support across all sectors. A non-office based role touring the town centre daily on foot, requiring individuals to work using their own initiative as well as responding to set tasks every day. The ideal candidate will be responsible for communicating the BID brand and range of projects we offer to all sectors and levels of management within those sectors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be the main link between the businesses and Solihull BID management team
  • Ensure all required admin is accurate and appropriate, maintaining a digital portfolio of interactions
  • Work as part of the wider team delivering high quality support to BID businesses
  • Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers and other professionals, both in writing and verbally
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the business
  • Build & develop relationships with the businesses and be that vital point of contact
  • Visit and convey project details when needed/requested
  • Problem solve issues in conjunction with the Management team
  • Be a conduit between businesses and develop opportunities for them to help one another
  • Present to staff on new BID initiatives, BID card growth etc
  • Work with businesses to ensure involvement in BID events and projects
  • Work closely with the Enforcement officers to raise their profile and book in for training /meetings etc

Key skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrate previous experience of business liaison/customer service
  • Have excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a busy team
  • To be able to demonstrate clear, effective communication skills and excellent oral and written English skills. (Essential)
  • You will be required to have accurate computer inputting skills and be able to show basic knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Good knowledge of the Solihull BID and the area (Desirable)
  • Ability to work to a high standard on your own initiative and as part of a larger team
  • Demonstrate positive values in line with equal opportunities legislation
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work
  • Work unsupervised
  • Be happy to work outside in all weather, the role is not office based and will entail set targets of business visits per day throughout the town centre area.
  • Be smart in appearance and maintain provided uniform to a high standard.
  • Adhere to Solihull BID policies and procedures
  • Promote Health & Safety practices in the workplace
  • Must be able to work 37.5 hours per week including some weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Be flexible in both working hours and supporting the team
  • Employment is subject to two satisfactory references and will begin with a 6 month probationary trial
