If you’re searching for an out-of-this-world adventure this half term, then look no further as Touchwood is bringing some galactic fun to the centre for young space explorers to enjoy!
From Monday 27th to Friday 31st May, an inflatable planetarium dome will be unveiled in the Atrium. Solihull’s mini astronauts can sit or lie on the floor and be wowed by screenings of space-themed films, taking them on an astronomical tour through the night sky and around the solar system.
The event marking the upcoming 50th anniversary of the first moon landing offers young guests an experience that combines entertainment with scientific understanding. The star-studded planetarium is free to enter with each film lasting approximately 20 minutes.
Orbiting the centre throughout the week will also be a range of friendly intergalactic characters. Come face-to-face with amazing astronauts, outrageous aliens and crazy rocket scientists! See how many you can spot roaming the centre throughout the week - be sure to take a space-themed selfie with them!
This free event is open to all on a first come, first served basis, and is wheelchair and walking stick friendly. During busy periods it may not be possible to get into the planetarium straight away so our roaming space characters can entertain you whilst you wait.
Lucy Burnett, marketing manager at Touchwood, comments: “We understand that entertaining little ones during the school holidays can be difficult so we’re always keen to provide free and unique experiences. Our inflatable star dome planetarium with its spectacular footage will capture the imagination of all, whilst our friendly roaming characters are sure to be a big hit. Your journey into space starts here!”
