Solihull-based shopping centre, Mell Square, has raised £350 for Solihull Hospital Charity, following its Christmas gift wrapping activity that took place last year.
On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December 2018, Mell Square hosted a gift wrapping pop-up store, all in return for a small donation to Solihull Hospital Charity. Adding to the generous donations from the local community, IM Properties, owners of Mell Square, matched the money raised bringing the total amount to £700.
All of the money raised from the gift wrapping activity helped to fund the 2018 Christmas appeal at Solihull Hospital. This included buying hampers for patients and staff to share, as well as gifts for children and young people who were treated at the hospital during the festive period.
Rob Hemus, IM Properties asset director, said: “This is the second time we have held the event and we are overwhelmed at the continued support from Mell Square visitors, which is why we wanted to match their generous donations and double the amount of money raised.
“We really enjoyed partnering with Solihull Hospital Charity and we are thankful for the volunteers giving up their time, especially at such a busy time of the year. The Christmas gift wrapping activity was the perfect way to conclude 2018 and we look forward to working with Solihull Hospital Charity again in the future.”
Samantha Howell, fundraising manager at Solihull Hospital Charity, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the gift wrapping activity and we’re very grateful for all the donations. The support we receive from our charity partners is crucial in allowing us to continue the work we do, especially during the festive season. On behalf of all the staff and patients at Solihull Hospital, I would like to say a massive thank you to Mell Square, IM Properties and its shoppers.”
