Solihull BID is adapting its street warden patrol service to continue to provide a reassuring presence for town centre businesses during the Coronavirus lockdown.
The BID’s street wardens are patrolling streets, public spaces, alleyways and car parks to reassure companies that their premises are being protected.
Solihull BID is working in partnership with West Midlands Police and has now strengthened its patrol team to offer a 7-day patrol service.
BID wardens are engaging positively but safely with groups who they believe may be in breach of the Government guidelines to safe distance and encouraging people to adhere to the new measures.
“Solihull BID are continuing to work tirelessly on protecting the town centre and keeping it safe and secure,” explains Melanie Palmer, Chief Executive, Solihull BID.
“Our reinforced street warden provision means that those key workers that remain in the town centre can feel the reassuring presence of the team, and those business owners who have been forced to close know their property will be included within the regular patrol.
“Our message is as always that there is zero tolerance for crime in Solihull.”
Meanwhile, thousands of Solihull residents and businesses have visited the BID’s special COVID-19 webpage which informs visitors how coronavirus is impacting the town centre.
There has been a 200% increase in visitor numbers to the site and it is being hailed as the one-stop hub for all information on the town centre during the crisis.
The Solihull BID guide also contains information about opening hours for the remaining businesses, details on restaurants offering food and drink home delivery options, and the town centre retail online guide on how to continue to support the retail economy.
Visitors can also find the latest information about public transport changes, support for individuals plus financial support for businesses and employees.
Ms Palmer added: “Solihull BID is aware of the critical importance of keeping our businesses and the public updated with the latest news, information and advice during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Please check the page daily for more updates for businesses and individuals.”
