Valley Primary School choir hit the high notes at Touchwood

Pupils from Valley Primary School have been awarded an impressive £1,000 after being crowned champions of the ‘Touchwood School Choir Competition 2019’.

The pupils walked away with the coveted title after beating off strong competition from 21 other schools and securing over 1,000 votes in the centre’s annual event.

The singing schoolchildren wowed centre guests with their live seasonal renditions of festive favourites during the competition, which ran throughout December, and have been awarded £1,000 towards a project of the school’s choice.

Lucy Burnett, Marketing Manager at Touchwood, comments: “Our annual school choir competition is becoming increasingly popular each year and the competition is getting even tougher. Our participating choirs always put on wonderful performances and this year was no exception – there are some truly talented young singers in the borough! We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and helped to get all of our guests into the Christmas spirit. We’d also like to offer a huge congratulations to Valley Primary School, they put on a brilliant show.”

Susan Milewski, Headteacher at Valley Primary School, said: “Our choir are incredible! Their enthusiasm and passion are wonderful to see, we welcome all children to join and they are a real strength of our school. This competition was an opportunity for some of our choir to live out our new school vision…. ‘Aspire for Excellence’, ‘Enjoy Learning’, and ‘Achieve Success’. We will now work on the final part, ‘Challenge ourselves further’ as we aim to perform in other venues and hope, through sharing our singing, we bring happiness to many members of our local and global community. We thank our fabulous children, of whom we are immensely proud.  We are extremely grateful to Mr Hilditch and Mrs Thomas who lead our choir, our very supportive parents, everyone who voted for us in the competition and Touchwood for organising the opportunity for us and other schools to showcase our children’s singing talents.”
