A team from 608 Vets, which has practices in Solihull, Bentley Heath and Acocks Green, is tackling Trek26 through the Cotswolds on Saturday (July 6).
They will be walking in honour of the vet’s lead nurse Ally Pett, whose father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2020 aged just 60.
Ally said: “It’s a charity that’s very close to my heart and we’re keen to raise as much money as we can for the Alzheimer’s Society.
“My dad has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and it’s a disease that not only affects the person diagnosed, but the whole family.
“The society helps those living with dementia today and it’s also providing hope for the future as it works towards a world where dementia will no longer devastate lives.
“We have already raised double our initial target of £1,000, which is excellent, but we want to raise as much as possible so any donations will be greatly received.”
Ally will be joined on the trek by 608’s practice manager Lindsey Whitburn, vet nurses Yvette Luckett and Hannah Greenway plus former clinical director Deborah Hope.
The 26-mile route starts and finishes at Postlip Farm, Cheltenham, and takes in Langley Hill, descending into the villages of Gretton and Gotherington before a steep climb to reach Cleeve Common. The route then joins the Winchcombe Way on its journey south towards Sevenhampton, Sudeley Castle, and finally follows the Cotswolds Way to the finish.
