The Solihull Business Improvement District is the foundation on which we can build an even greater town centre for all. For the past 13 years, we’ve grown, inspired and innovated. Resulting in a reduction in crime, increase in footfall and the introduction of a thriving events calendar, plus much more. With your help and support, we can deliver an even greater level of success for the future.
The Safe & Secure Project aspect of Solihull BID is a crucial part of the overall safety and security within Solihull town centre. The BID provide the Street Wardens team, who are the people you see every day, providing a reassuring presence to visitors and businesses, ensuring Solihull remains a safe and welcoming place to visit.
The safety and security of the town centre has, and continues to be, one of our biggest focuses. With so many competing large cities and shopping areas in the local area, it is important that we continue to provide a safe and welcoming environment for employees and shoppers alike.
Here in Solihull we have embraced the changes and recognised that the key to a successful town is to create an inviting space for social interaction, somewhere where people don’t ‘need’ to shop but they want to shop, dine and meet.
We have recognised the gaps in provision for families and installed a children’s play area and additional seating for parents and carers in Mell Square.
Working with local partners we developed our sense of place proposal and delivered changes to the public realm that have had a huge positive impact on the townscape. This includes eight Community Seating Hubs with sensory planting.
Solihull’s motto is Urbs in Rure (the Town in the Country) and we are lucky to have Malvern and Brueton Parks and Tudor Grange Park on the town centre’s doorstep.
The thriving town centre welcomes an Artisan Market on the first Sunday of every month, bringing together the best creative, quirky, and artistic traders from across the region. There is also regular family entertainment and we have worked with Solihull Council to enhance the Street Entertainment and Busking offer.
Our businesses are our backbone. Without their support, the positive changes simply wouldn’t have happened, which is why we’re committed to backing them in every way possible.
Boosting both footfall and visitor spending. Our line-up of festivals and events play a key role in putting Solihull and its businesses firmly on the map.
