Our ‘A Postcard From Solihull’ event saw us take a step back in time through images and insights into what Solihull looked like going back to the early 19th century. Solihull BID teamed up with Touchwood, The Core Library and SMBC to bring you ‘A Postcard From Solihull’.
We ran an informative historic trail, including 22 locations to re-visit the past, through images. McDonald’s visitors saw that they are munching burgers on the site of the old Post Office and Liv’s is where the old Mill Lane Boys School once stood.
The ‘Memory Zone’ in Touchwood allowed visitors to listen to old recordings of Solihull residents and write down their own memories which were then put on display in The Core Theatre.
People also enjoyed the guided tours through the heart of Solihull ‘village’, reminiscing about what the town centre used to look like.
I have such fond memories of Solihull from when I was growing up so it was fantastic to look back at what it used to look like.
What an amazing way to celebrate the history of Solihull and allow us to look back at what the town centre used to look like to previous generations!
