Solihull School named The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in the West Midlands 2026

    8th December 2025

Solihull School named The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in the West Midlands 2026

Solihull School is proud to announce that it has been recognised as one of the UK’s highest-achieving schools and named The Sunday Times Independent Secondary School of the Year in the West Midlands 2026, as part of the respected Parent Power Guide – widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools.

Commenting on the school’s most recent accolade, Charles Fillingham, Headmaster of Solihull School, said: “Solihull School is in the top 1% of schools nationally in terms of pupil progress. The school has a fantastic community of pupils, staff, parents and friends. Our strength is seeing each child as an individual. You don’t have to fit a mould at Solihull – each pupil can find his or her own place here.”

Sean Morgan, Head of the Senior School, added: “This award is a tremendous honour and a testament to the dedication of our pupils, staff and families. At Solihull, we take great pride in being a school, where young people grow, learn and flourish from the age of 3 to 18. Our whole school community should be enormously proud.”

Helen Davies, editor of The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide, said: “The educational landscape is testing – budget challenges, rising student mental health issues, special educational needs and an increasingly uncertain future. But there is also so much to celebrate from the dedication of teachers who are finding ever more innovative and impactful ways to enrich their students and give them the very best start in life.

“As well as celebrating the academic excellence of the top schools it is uplifting to see how they are shaping their students to be ready for the 21st century and instilling a lifelong love of learning.”

Solihull School is placed in the top 1% of UK schools for pupil progress, according to the Alps value-added “thermometer” measure. This ranking highlights the exceptional progress pupils make from their starting points, underlining the impact of inspirational teaching and an environment in which every individual is supported to thrive.
