Touchwood Solihull is extending its summer of activities with three fun-filled events for the family to enjoy throughout the month of September.
With a variety of festivals and shows kicking off from 14 September, autumn will start with a bang as visitors to the centre will delight in celebrations for the Mid-Autumn Festival, test their limits with the Animal Show Live and tingle their tastebuds at the Solihull Food Festival.
On Saturday 14 September Touchwood will be hosting its very own celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Chinese Moon Festival. The traditional harvest festival is celebrated in Chinese culture when the moon is at its fullest and brightest size.
With the support of volunteers from Solihull Hongkongers, UK Welcomes Refugees, Solihull Methodist Church, Christian Zheng Sheng Association UK and Be Water, guests will be able to enjoy a huge range of activities including lion dance performances, lantern and calligraphy workshops and musical performances, and can even sample traditional teas and mooncakes.
Perfect for families looking for an interactive and educational experience for the kids, the Animal Show Live will return to Touchwood on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September. The show will run from 12-4pm and includes a variety of creepy crawlies and reptiles, from snakes and scorpions to chameleons and cockroaches. So, for those looking to test their limits whilst learning all about their favourite beasties, look no further!
The fun doesn’t stop there! If you’re a local foodie seeking out a weekend of indulgent treats, from 27 to 29 September Solihull BID is bringing back its hugely popular annual Food Festival, with a range of Touchwood outlets getting involved.
On Saturday 28 September, celebrity chef Aldo Zilli from Emporio Artari, located within Touchwood, will be centre stage on the High Street, along with friends from Yakinori, Hotel Chocolat and Tio Latino who will be on the Chef’s Stage ‘Talking Food’ to demonstrate, sample and talk about their products.
Lucy Burnett, Marketing Manager at Touchwood, said: “We are so excited to announce the three wonderfully diverse events we have coming up in September. Our Mid-Autumn Festival in particular is going be a fantastic opportunity for the community to immerse in Chinese culture whilst trying new and fun activities.
“September at Touchwood is going to be a great month of celebration and fun for the entire family, and we look forward to welcoming guests both old and new to experience it along with us.”
